Crossroads of Faith UMC

Mission projects

Currently, the Crossroads Care Team is collecting specific items each month to supplement the DuPage Township pantry. DuPage Township serves the poor of both Bolingbrook and Romeoville. During the colder months we collected items to create "Blessing Bags" for the homeless in our area. 45 bags consisting of numerous items like hats, gloves, socks, soap, deodorant, razors, toothbrushes, floss, toothpaste, wash cloths and towels, combs, and nail clippers, of which half had sanitary supplies for the ladies. The Crossroads Youth made purchases with financial donations to supplement lacking items and then filled the bags.

Currently, we are collaborating with the Crossroads Youth to make scarves, shawls and blankets made of fleece material donated by the congregation. Emily, our Youth Director, called it "Christmas in July" with Christmas music and a Christmas dinner to enjoy after our labors. To date we have scarves, shawls and large quantities of material left to make blankets.

In July & August we will begin to collect school supplies for the more impoverished students of Valley View School District. Lists have been put in the Crossroads' Newsletter as well as in the bulletins to assist the Congregation in their selection of donated items.
